This works, but in the very confined space of your tank it is far from as easy as they make it appear.

Greetings, What if adjusting the water level is not the issue, mbut that after flushing, the black box-like part does not pivot back in place, thus then allowing toilet to refill on the 300a? Assembly in question only installed with new toilet replacement, for about 2 months. Thanks for help! Bill L

"I am in the last stages of replacing all parts in my 2-piece toilet. I am using the "400 Everything" model. In this video, do you mean that the fill valve CAP must stand 3" taller than the top of the overflow pipe? That other part on the fill valve (the black barrel-looking thing)...isn't the part that gets raised? No matter what I do, my water only fills to about 1.5" below the lowest line on the overflow pipe. I cannot turn the fill valve (like you do) because there is a fixed part in the way. The toilet works but I don't want to have problems in the future. Any advice? Should I remove it completely, raise it and then put it back? UGHHH!

Everything about this video was perfect EXCEPT, as some others have mentioned, you can change the height without taking the top parts off and twisting the shank! My Fluidmaster is one of the new ones that has an extra bowl fill attachment on it, and makes the twisting room almost non existant. I was looking at removing the valve from the toilet to change the height when I saw a comment from others in the comments about sliding the plastic lock UP on the shank. That was a game changer, as all I did was move that plastic lock washer UP on the tube, and that allowed me to just pull up on the top part to extend the height! I then puushed the lockwasher back down in place, tested the water height, and VIOLA, my toilet was fixed!! GREAT VIDEO, though, guys, and VERY easy to follow!

Now this is the kind of video I like. The gentleman gets right to the point in one minut saving stress and time! I know when I want to solve a problem, the last thing I want is someone explaining how it works, what it does, where it was made, who invented it, will it fit in a Tesla or cut my grass on a Thursday! In fact I even wrote too much to read right now! 😅 Thanks Toilet Pro!!!

Awesome! This thing has been making a high pitched wet hissing noise and after taking a close look I saw water coming out from around it. Your video came right up and this was the exact problem. There were a few larger grass like bits in there. How the hell that gets into our water pipes! You'd think it would be better sealed and filtered. Oh well, thanks a bunch for the $0.00 repair.

Thank you so much for such informative video. My old toilet is 20+ years old and I was super frustrated that all the videos I watched in the last hour were talking about “adjusting the screw” attached to the fill valve. Guess what? There isn’t one on mine. After seriously considering to replace the fill valve, I landed on your video and it only took 10 mins to fix and adjust the fill valve height. Thank you again for saving me and my family’s sanity😊

Did he mention that you should turn off the water to the toilet before taking the cap off, because, if you don't that's how you get a surprise spray to the face!

Perfect! I had fought with a sticking float on this thing before but I couldn't work out how to disassemble it - it's all made of brittle feeling plastic and I was worried about breaking it. I followed your steps and no force was required. One note is, if you have larger hands, you might find it nearly impossible to grasp the pipe because (in my case) this was paired with a very large plastic central column which is entirely in the way. I was _just_ able to get a sufficient grip, but meaty hams might need to borrow someone smaller - or work out how to remove that central unit too. As a last note - when I had the top off I was able to drop the float right to the bottom, and I immediately found damage to the plastic pipe - a small part has been shaved flat except for a small nub right in the middle. I suspect this is what it was catching on when the cistern did not refill. I shaved it down using a Stanley knife blade, pulling away from the sharp edge to avoid it digging into the plastic and making new problems. I finally sprayed the entire thing with silicon spray... hopefully that'll be it solved for a long while now!

I know this video is 7 years old, but I have the Fluidmaster fill valve too and after I popped the white plastic piece up (that was difficult enough in itself), I couldn't move the gray piece up and down at all no matter how hard I pulled. Tried turning it and twisting but no luck. Ended up putting it back together and the water line was still low. If anyone else has this issue and figured it out, let me know please!
